Privacy Policy

1. Overview

LXB Studio LLC ("we", "us") operates WriteAxe, a desktop text editor application, and the website writeaxe.com. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with our Software and website.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

WriteAxe is an offline-first desktop application. We do not collect, transmit, or store:

• Your documents, files, or content
• Your keystrokes or editing activity
• Your settings or preferences
• Your browsing history within the built-in browser
• Any personally identifiable information from the desktop app

All user data is stored locally on your machine in a SQLite database within your AppData folder.

3. Data We Collect

License Validation (Pro users only): When you activate or validate a Pro license, we receive your license key and a machine fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash of hardware identifiers). This is used solely to enforce activation limits (3 machines per license). Validation occurs once per 24 hours.

Payment Information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your email address and subscription status from Stripe. We do not see or store your credit card details.

Website Analytics: writeaxe.com may use basic analytics to understand traffic patterns. No personal information is tracked.

4. Third-Party Services

When you use optional online features, data is sent directly to the respective third-party service:

• Cloud AI: Text you submit to OpenAI or Anthropic is governed by their privacy policies.
• Datamuse API: Words you look up in the online thesaurus are sent to Datamuse.
• RSS/News: Feed URLs you subscribe to are fetched directly from their servers.
• WordPress: Content you publish is sent to your WordPress site.
• Web Scraping: URLs you scrape are fetched directly.

We do not proxy or log any of these requests.

5. Data Security

License validation and payment processing use HTTPS encryption. Machine fingerprints are one-way hashes that cannot be reversed to identify hardware details.

6. Data Retention

License activation records are retained for the duration of your subscription. Upon cancellation, activation records are deleted. Stripe retains payment records per their data retention policy.

7. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your license and payment data by contacting [email protected]. Since the desktop application stores all data locally, you have full control over your local data at all times.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
