WriteAxe is a Windows desktop application built on .NET 8 and WPF. It requires Windows 10 or later (64-bit). macOS and Linux versions are not currently available.

Does WriteAxe require an internet connection?
No. WriteAxe runs entirely on your machine. The editor, variant engine, thesaurus (with offline WordNet data), PDF tools, and templates all work without internet. Online features like RSS feeds, web scraping, WordPress publishing, and cloud AI providers need connectivity. Local LLM inference via LlamaSharp runs completely offline.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from the Settings panel in WriteAxe or through the Stripe customer portal. Your Pro features remain active until the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fees.
Can I use my Pro license on multiple machines?
Yes. Each Pro license allows activation on up to 3 machines simultaneously. You can deactivate a machine from Settings and activate a different one at any time.
Where is my data stored?
All your data stays on your machine. WriteAxe uses a local SQLite database in your AppData folder. Documents are saved wherever you choose. No data is sent to our servers — the only network calls are license validation (once per 24 hours for Pro users), and optional features you explicitly use (online thesaurus, RSS, web scraping, cloud AI, WordPress).
What AI models does WriteAxe support?
Four providers: LlamaSharp (run GGUF models locally on your GPU/CPU), Ollama (connect to locally-running Ollama server), OpenAI (GPT-4o, GPT-4, GPT-3.5), and Anthropic (Claude Sonnet, Claude Haiku). Local models run entirely on your hardware with zero data leaving your machine.
